Design is a journey.
We illuminate the path.

Yes. It can absolutely be intimidating for a client to jump into a design project for the first time. This is why we prioritize relationships, listening and transparency. We help our clients focus on their path, not our path. At the end of the day, trust is far more important than wallpaper samples.

What we do

Our best stories come from working with clients who are open to possibilities. We begin with discovery—and then take our clients on a creative path, translating their needs with design savvy. We then end with considered and timeless interiors that make sense for our clients’ individual needs and desires.

Love your space

Each project is as unique as our clients. We take exceptional care to curate bespoke, thoughtful spaces. While adding value to your property is a bonus, it is important to remember that this is your space—where you work, vacation, dine around a table, raise your children, raise your pets, host your family, celebrate your most important milestones… create lasting memories. To enhance and bring value to the place you’re in, wherever that may be—that is the real value. Love your space.

The best advice for my residential clients is the same advice I always share for a rock-solid marriage—separate bathrooms.

Our Design Philosophy

IDEATE

We dig deep. Every space has a story that it is begging to tell. While there are many paths to take, we help navigate that road. What’s your story?

COLLABORATE

One of the most awe inspiring aspects of our work are our collaborations with brilliant artisans, architects, contractors, fellow creatives… We lean on one another to bring everything together. From material selection to fabrication to coordination, the partnership becomes our fuel. It takes a village.

Dream project? I am currently working through a fantasy that includes Quonset huts and alpacas. That’s all I’m saying—for now.

My superpower is grounded-possibility. I am meticulously committed to culturally immersive, site-specific design, and believe that authenticity is the foundation from which we build wonder and awe.

Meet Debbie

Founder and principal designer of CAMINO, Debbie Loughran is a first generation Filipino-American focused on creating experiential hospitality, commercial and residential design, leading her clients on a path of discovery that then leads them to the very best version of themselves and their environments.

Her inspiration for design began with a 1988 JCPenney catalog and a vision for black and white vinyl flooring in her bedroom, motivating her to save her pennies through high school. She ended up laying the flooring herself.

Debbie left her roots in California’s Central Valley to begin her design journey at Parsons School of Design in New York City. Her path eventually led to her ultimate dream of working alongside Ken Fulk, the legendary storyteller whose “Magical World” provided exposure and inspiration, extravagance and intent, expansion and enchantment.

Having access to Ken—who has been named to Architectural Digest’s AD100, Elle Decor’s A-List and has been twice nominated for a James Beard Award for his hospitality projects—introduced her to worldbuilding. “Not only did he open doors for me on a global scale, Ken chose me to lead projects that, at first, were so intimidating they triggered nightmares, but then enabled me to grow and, in the end, soar.”

Debbie’s current focus are her own private clients through CAMINO and her work as a consultant for design firms, with her most notable local design projects to include Miller & Lux in San Francisco, The Guild Theater in Menlo Park and Stewart Cellars in Yountville. From private jets to rustic cabins, bachelor pads to abandoned churches, members-only hotels to seaside estates, Debbie’s work has been critically featured in several publications, including Architectural Digest, Elle Décor, Luxe Interiors + Design and Interior Design Magazine.

Though she travels frequently for clients, Debbie is now rooted in San Francisco—close enough to her dad’s famous Central Valley-grown pomelos.
